Augmented Reality or AR:
a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user’s view of the real world, thus providing a composite view.
AR has been around for a few years with applications and hardware such as: Google Glass, Aurasma, Augment, and now Pokemon GO. I cannot begin to explain what Pokemon exactly is. All I remember is that it is a game that has a huge fanbase for roughly a decade. Unfortunately, I may not be an exact fan but I have a massive appreciation for it’s creativity and engagement.
This post is not to praise Pokemon but more to understand our present and future with with AR. People of all ages are picking up their devices and walking around various places indoors and outdoors. The engagement and willingness to persevere is outstanding. All users (kids and adults) are invested in its conventions while learning about their environment.
Edu or not, I really expect this craze will inspire AR expansion in years to come. With an AR world possibilities will be imaginative.
